Originally from Edinburgh, I studied at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen and then went on to Cardiff to complete an MA in Architectural Ceramics.
Over the past 20 years I have taught Art in Primary and Secondary schools in Aberdeen and the North East. After raising my family I have finally returned to Edinburgh and to creating Ceramics again.
I work mainly in Porcelain making individual, decorative panels and tile forms. Using hand-carved stamps and found objects, I build up pattern and surface texture. This is then highlighted with colouring oxides and high fired to 1260 C.
In 2015 I founded Blackbird Studios in Morningside, Edinburgh. This provided me with a studio to work in, a space to run craft workshops and was also an art and craft gallery. After 2 years I decided to work from my studio at home and run workshops in different locations around Edinburgh.
